Our third annual virtual EC Yom Ha'atzmaut flight to Israel is scheduled to depart this Wednesday (albeit even more virtual than other years:-)  This video introduces the upcoming holiday of Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) and leads children to prepare for the upcoming "trip."  The supplies used are white and blue paper, crayons/markers, scissors, and glue/glue stick.

Wednesday's itinerary will include visits to the Kotel (Western Wall) in Jerusalem,  the Dead Sea, and Tel Aviv-Yafo!  Each "destination" will feature different thematic activities for the children to do at home.  The flight and tour videos will be posted Wednesday morning (Yom Ha'atzmaut), but for your convenience, here is a list of supplies that will be used on our "trip."

Tel Aviv: 1 cup canned chickpeas/garbanzo beans (drained), 2 T. oil, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, orange (sliced into quarters), cup, Ziploc bag

Dead Sea: Tall, clear glass or plastic container, golf ball, salt (approx. 1 cup), shallow pan, popsicle stick, water

Jerusalem: Brown paper or paper bag, scissors, markers/crayons, glue/glue stick, Jerusalem paper (will be attached to Wednesday's email)

Gather loose parts (small toys, natural materials) 

to use for counting.

Add number cards or dice to make learning more complex.

Loose parts can also be used for creating numbers.

Write numbers on paper bags and then go on 

a hunt to find that many items.

Ganon really enjoyed our Number Hunt around the school.  

Your family could take a Number Hunt around your neighborhood and write down numbers found on houses, mailboxes, and license plates.

Popsicle sticks, Straws, Q-Tips, Pencils, or Small Sticks all can be used to build shapes.
