Frog at School

This morning at drop off the children were greeted with quite a surprise in the Cultural Art Center, A FROG!  Yes, a frog was jumping around the CAC.  The children watched it hop around the room.

Due to the excitement of the frog in the morning, we decided to change our activities to be centered around frogs.  We used a frog puppet for greeting time at our morning meeting.

The children dictated a story about the frog at school.

After writing 'Frog at School', the children wanted to tell a pretend story about a frog at school.  The class worked together to tell the story 'The Giant Frog'.

Next, the children drew illustrations for the story.

Frogs and turtles were used during the day's math activity.  Children sorted and counted the frogs & turtles.

Quiet Bags

Quiet Bags are one of the favorite activities in the Ganon class.  We have a wide variety of materials placed in our quiet bags.  Each child chooses a quiet bag that interests them,  finds a spot in the room, and works independently with their materials.  The quiet bags allow for some relaxing, downtime during our busy school day.

Lines Make Letters

Today we discussed that many letters are made with lines.  The first letters that we learn during the Handwriting Without Tears program are letters made with lines.  Letters L, E, F are the first letters that we learn.  The children participated in centers that focused on lines during our Language/Literacy time.
