Names, Names and Lots of Games
The Ganon children are very interested in their names and the names of their classmates. We have done so many activities which focus on names. Below are a few of our favorites.
Hide and Seek Plates
The teachers hide the plates around the room and the children have to go find their plate.
Some children choose to daily at their name to the magnet board.
The children sorted the names by the first letter of each name.
The children often practice writing their names.
The children counted how many letters in each name.
The class created a book titled Ganon, GanonWho Do You See? The book includes each child's photo and name. The children enjoy reading it to each other. One family reads it every morning as part of their arrival routine.
Many of the children have already learned to read their friend's names. A few children are enjoying writing their friend's names on post it notes and placing them around the classroom.

Shana Tova Ganon, Shana Tova Morah Schusterman. This week we learned to say these very important words. We wish each other good things for the New Year. Each child received a card with one Hebrew letter. They learned to use white liquid glue with proper control and practice making their letter and then with square mosaic paper carefully placed it on the glue. The letters spell out Shana Tova U’metukah, wishes for a good and sweet year. Their crafted letters are hanging outside our room. They also worked very hard on creating Shana Tova cards that you will enjoy next week. We used a very cool and fun technique that your child will hopefully share with you.
Rosh Hashana has many customs and traditions that we enjoyed talking about this week through books, puzzles, songs and movement.
This week we began learning the words of the first paragraph of Sh’ma. V’ahavta- you shall love….

Apple Picking
The children enjoyed a quick walk to the Rosenfeld's house for some apple picking. 
We stopped to see the grapes and counted six bird nests.
Mrs. Rosenfeld showed us how to use this long tool to grab apples that are high up on the trees.
Then the apple picking fun began.
We even got to pick a few pears.
