Today, we celebrated Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day. The Oak classroom was transformed into a vibrant representation of Israel. Dressed in blue and white, the children participated in various special activities. They constructed a model of the Kotel and wrote notes to place inside its crevices. The students also created a representation of the city of Jerusalem using shapes and decorated maps of Israel. Flags of Israel were made and waved while we watched a parade of HHAI students in the hallway. No trip to Israel would be complete without sandcastle building and fishing in the ocean. The day was even more special because our Oak student Talia returned from her month-long trip to Israel. She shared stories about her experience, showed pictures, and brought gifts for the children.
