Exploring Bugs

The class is fascinated by bugs, so today we decided to begin a bug unit. We began by creating a KWL chart.  K stands for what we know.  W stands for what we want to know.  L stands for what we learned. 

Next, we read the book What Is An Insect?  Then, we added to our KWL chart.

The children did their own research by looking at books.  They illustrated pictures of bugs that they found in the books.

Some of the children decided to match bug specimens with pictures in books and on information cards during Free Play.
