On Monday we worked on reading comprehension. We read the story "The Very Busy Spider," by Eric Carle. We answered questions throughout the story and the drew a picture about what happened in the story afterwards.

On Tuesday we worked on letter identification. The children grabbed a letter out of the basket and then told Ms. Alisa what letter it was. Children would help each other if the child was unsure of what letter they pulled from the bucket. The children and teacher also came up with a word that started with the letter they pulled from the bucket.

On Wednesday, we worked on rhyming words. The children worked on slowing down and thinking about the words when they say them. Ms. Alisa showed the children a word with a picture, and the children had to identify which word rhymes with the word shown.

ELA2.2: Demonstrate phonological awareness

On Thursday we worked on counting again. Each child had dice and manipulatives to count with. Children worked independently during this time and Ms. Alisa walked around to provide assistance as needed. During the last seven minutes, everyone gathered together and we worked on identifying numbers on the dice as a group.

On Friday we worked on name writing and name tracing. Children were provided with a paper with their name on it as well as a q-tip and red paint. While tracing their names, Ms. Alisa called the children to come over and write their names on an index card.
