The class asked to retell The Hat after all the fun they had performing The Mitten. The exciting thing about The Hat story is that each character has a speaking role. Mrs. Mahern would read the line and then the character would repeat it. The children explained that The Hat was extra silly.
They also described similarities and differences between the two books. Children explained that animals are in both stories. A girl is in The Hat and a boy is in The Mitten. A hedgehog is in both books. They described that in both stories the animals use a clothing item to stay warm. They also noticed that it is snowy in each story.
Acting out The Hat has been a favorite activity of the children and they asked to do it day after day. The materials are not available in the Book Center for the children to act out the story different Centers Time.
