Dear Parents,
We had a busy week as usual. A new job was introduced that the children look forward to. After discussing and learning about the six days of creation, pictures were hung up at child eye level with the corresponding number (1-7). Each day a child is chosen to point to the pictures as we sing the days of the week in Hebrew and English. After singing our new song a few more times, your child will probably know the Hebrew words by heart.
We introduced a little boy this week by the name of Avram. The Midrash tells us a story about Avram as a child living in a cave. He was wise and curious. He wondered who could be the Creator and after looking around, he thought that the sun was almighty. After a long day, the sun set and Avram realized that an Al-might Creator cannot be something that is not watching over his creations. One observation led to another until he concluded that there must be a being, an invisible G-d who created all this powerful and beautiful nature and runs this world so perfectly. He then spent the rest of his life teaching anyone he can about HaShem. All the children made a 'book' with this story with their original drawings. Some of our friends did a great job with the detailed pictures! You can encourage your child to share what they remember and you can use the newsletter to prompt them.
When Avram came to the land that would later become Israel, he became very wealthy. His many sheep grazed on the land and were then led to graze in different areas. Ganon had fun learning about how Avram's sheep NEVER grazed on private property, even if they were just passing through. We talked about always asking permission before we use something that belongs to someone else even if we think it's not a big deal, like grass.
For now, wishing you all the best and a very wonderful Shabbat,
Morah Fraidel Schusterman
