There are Many Shades of Orange

We began our unit on the Colors of Fall with a focus on the color of orange.

We discussed that there are different shades of orange.

The children arranged the orange items from lightest to darkest.

The children arranged the orange pieces from the
color box in order from light to dark.
The Color Box is used to help develop a child's visual sense of color.

The children mixed yellow and red (and sometimes white)
to create an original shade of orange.  They named their paint color.

The children went on an orange hunt to each
find an orange item in the classroom.

The children arranged the items from lightest to darkest.
There was a lot of debate during this activity and many children
had to compromise on how they wanted the items arranged.

We created a list of orange things.
SS challenged us to come up with 30 and we did!

Each child drew a picture of something that is orange.
