Today, we began to focus on name recognition. Some of the children are able to identify their name. Those children focused on learning their friend's names. While discussing names, we talked about the different letters in each names. Conversations about names included counting how many letters in the children's names and which children's names began with the same letter.
The class was introduced to the plate sail game. For this game, each child has a plate with their name on it. I toss the plates into the middle of the carpet and the children watch for theirs. Once they see their name, they grab it. We played multiple times and the children kept getting faster and faster. We then transitioned to a hiding game, where I hid the plates around the room and the children searched for their plate.
Then, the children painted a paper with their name on it. We will use the name paper for some activities late this week. We have some fun name activities planned for tomorrow.
