Sled Dogs

The children's interest in ice this week has led to an interest in sled dogs.  The children saw a picture of sled dogs in a Scholastic News magazine and it peeked their interest.  They requested that I bring sled dogs to school.  I couldn't make that wish come true but we did do some fun sled dog activities.

The children created their own dogsleds using shoe boxes.

We watched videos of dogs in the Iditarod. 

The children became the dogs and pulled a sled around the school.

Mrs. Siegel saw the children dog sleds in the hallway and told us that she had been dog sledding in Alaska.  She shared these pictures with us and promised to visit our class to tell more about her dog sled adventure.
