The class picked the giant sunflower seeds from the EC garden. The children then took turns removing the seeds. The activity took a lot of concentration and fine motor coordination. Children used tweezers and the pincher grasp (with their fingers) to remove the seeds.
Once the seeds were picked, the seeds were used for a math activity. The children counted the seeds. The children then counted out 10 seeds to take home, as the culmination of the activity.
