Today, the children were introduced to estimation. Estimation jars are used to help children build number sense. We discussed what would be a good estimate and a bad estimate. Each child wrote their estimate and then we counted the items. We then discussed if a child's guess was more or less than the actual amount in the jar.
We also worked on writing larger numbers. The concept of place value really started click for many of the children today.
