In the morning, it was pouring rain, which delayed our gardening activities. However, the class engaged in several garden-themed activities while we waited. They drew pictures of gardens and seed packets, played with items found in the garden, such as vegetables and flowers, and observed and compared various seeds. We also read books about gardens. Once the rain finally stopped, we went outside to work in the garden. We started by weeding and preparing the area. Next, we planted the seeds and finished by adding the garden signs. The heavy rain had created large puddles and enticing mud, so the class spent the afternoon jumping, splashing, and digging outside. It turned out to be a fun and messy gardening day!
