The favorite classroom materials have been the measuring tapes. The children are drawn to them, and many choose to spend their free play time using them.
The children's interest in the measuring tape led to a focus on measuring during today's Oak activities.
The children explored two play invitations based on measurement when they entered the classroom in the morning. One activity was measuring using rulers and unifix cubes. The other play activity was measuring animal toys and recording their height.
During morning meeting, we measured each child with yarn. The yarn measurements are on display outside our classroom. Then, the children took turns measuring each other with the wood blocks. Finally, we created a list of ideas for items we can use to measure.
