The Ganon children have been chatting with each other and discussing what they did over Winter Break. Winter Break vacations and activities have been the focus of most of our mealtime conversations. Today during our morning meeting the children drew pictures of their favorite activity from the break.

Exploring Ice
The children were surprised to find ice on the playground. Ice was first spotted in the mud kitchen sink. Then the children realized that ice was in every bucket, pot, and container on the playground.
The children tried to break the ice. One child suggested using a hammer to break the ice. We learned that the ice was too thick for even the hammer to break.
The ice in the basket was not completely frozen and we were able to break it. We made a hole and found water at the bottom.
We read a Scholastic magazine about ice and snow.
We brought some ice inside for exploring. The children used food coloring, droppers, salt, spoons, and water during their ice exploration.
We ended our day with the children making a list of questions
about ice that they would like to research.
