During small group on Monday, the children wrote stories. First, they choose a character for their story. Then, they dictated a story about the character. We discussed that they were authors because they wrote a story. Then, on Tuesday the children drew pictures for their story. They learned the term illustrator.
The children wrote in their journals on Wednesday. The question was: What food do you wish you could eat every day? The answers were pasta, sausage, and cake. The children drew a picture and then labeled it. They are working hard at the challenge of writing letters to make words.
Friday's small group time was all about patterning. The children were introduced to the concept of patterning. The created AB and ABC patterns.
