We took a nice walk to the mailbox to mail Rosh Hashana cards to our families! We discussed the entire process of mail. Several children were concerned that the postal worker would not know where to bring their letter. We explained that each letter has the child's address on it. Also, that the stamp is the payment for the letter to be delivered We then explained that a postal worker will come to the mailbox and take all the mail to post office. Then at the post office, the mail will be sorted. Once the mail is sorted, their mail carrier will get their mail and deliver it to the mailbox at their house.
Our class enjoys listening to Rabbi Schusterman blow the shofar each morning. Today, we discussed that a ram is coming to school tomorrow. Some shofars are made from ram horns. Our class spent some time today exploring a box full of shofars. The children looked at, touched and held the shofars. We compared the different colors and sizes of the shofars. The children then created an observational drawing of the shofar.
