On Monday we began the week with some fall reading comprehension. The children and teacher read the book "Full of Fall." After reading the story, the teacher and children discussed the different things that happened in the story. After the discussion, the children were provided with paper as well as fall colored markers. The children were asked to create a picture of things they remembered from the story.

On Tuesday we practiced letter recognition with the Splat game. The children used the "splatter" to point out different letters of the alphabet that they remember. The children also used their gross motor skills for this activity as they are using their whole arm for movement. The children if there happened to be a time where a child did not know certain letters, the other children would help them identify the letter together.

On Wedneday, we worked on more fine motor activities as well as writing. The children were provided with peg boards and rubber bands. During this time, the children were able to work with the rubber bands with their fingers and create different shapes and lines out of the rubber bands on the boards. Also, the children were called one at a time to an additional table to practice writing the numbers one, two and three.

On Thursday, we focused more on complex thinking and problem solving skills. The children were invited to the middle of the carpet to select a three piece animal puzzle and work independently to complete it. The children used their problem solving skills for this. The children each took turns to pick out the three pieces that make up each puzzle and complete them. The children worked hard during this time and were excited to play the puzzle game twice.

On Friday, we played a game of Splat with numbers as a large group during small group time. The children enjoyed displaying their number recognition skills during this game. The children worked to help their peers whenever they were stuck on numbers as well during this time.
